Hi everyone. This has been a difficult couple of weeks. The Wyld Fire Beltane Hunt has operated for 12+ years, and 11 of those were firmly ensconced at Gryphon's Nest Campground in Springfield, LA. We have had so many beautiful memories there, and nights filled with laughter, dancing, drumming, bonfires, and beautiful naked bodies under the stars and moonlight (it's a clothing-optional campground, just FYI). But unfortunately, this past WFBH was our last in this place.
There has been a due course of drama unfolding over new rules that were issued by the campground owner. These rules are contrary to the wishes of the majority of the community and they are discriminatory in nature. Due to this, I cannot, in good conscience, continue to hold Beltane at Gryphon's Nest Campground. I'm not going to rehash what has transpired, but you can read the statement issued by The Council (of which I am a member) here.
What does this mean for Beltane? It means we're looking for a new home... a place where all bodies are beautiful and natural, a place where Pagans can express themselves and connect with the wilds of nature, and where we can gather as a community, in gratitude, and appreciate our connection to one another. And especially, a place where we can run wild and free, in the spirit of the chase, in search of the year's May Queen!
As I spend the next few months looking for a new retreat space, I ask that you continue to stay in touch and take care of one another. Our community is grieving due to this massive change in circumstance, and it would be easy to give up and let the past fade away. But destruction breeds creation, and I definitely have more passion, more ideas, and more motivation to build Beltane up to be better than ever, regardless of where we settle. I'll take help from those who offer it, and will update you on what I find.
In the spirit of community, I remain yours!
